The position is to be assigned as soon as possible for a contract period of 4 years, with possibility of extension and is located in Shanghai (China).

The Division Manager Electronics will be responsible to organize and manage a technical team in closed cooperation with the corporate headquarters in Germany and external makers. The division consists currently of 4 well-educated Chinese engineers and it is considered to enlarge the team. The main focus is on development of battery packs for tools and garden tools. The position reports directly to the Technical Director of Einhell China.

The main tasks of the team are new product development, product improvement and the support of sourcing and product management in technical questions.

Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Manage and further develop the team and establish a competent and a self-driven division, which is responsible for bringing product ideas from sketch to mass production stage together with external manufacturing facilities (OEM and new product development), as well as continuous product improvement with the target to reduce failure rates
  • Communicate daily with German headquarters and maintain successful relationships with suppliers, partners and third parties to ensure smooth execution of technical cooperation and projects
  • Be fully responsible for the maintenance, further development and documentation of a Li-Ion battery platform.
  • Definition and maintenance of battery quality and safety requirements and specifications according to safety and costumer needs
  • Build up a team to support all future electronic developments
  • Assure project schedules and short time-to-market periods
  • Provide technical support to internal departments (purchase, quality, export, product management …)
  • Ensure efficient execution of internal work flows and procedures and actively contribute to process improvements
  • Master or Bachelor degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, machine -oriented IT (technical IT), physics or related disciplines with experience this field
  • At least 3 years work experience in project and/or engineering management and/or leading technical teams (e.g. R&D). Experience in job-relevant sectors ((cordless) power tools and/or garden tools, household appliances, battery pack, Li-Ion cells, chargers or electrical consumer products) preferred
  • Very good technical understanding of relevant consumer products and related manufacturing processes, ability to find technical solutions under consideration of economic aspects and develop innovative ideas
  • Basic knowledge charging technology and understanding of battery safety and dangers during use or charging (mainly Li-Ion systems; Battery Management Systems (BMS))
  • Further experiences in the field of embedded systems, robotic, internet of things (IOT), control boards for electrical tools or household appliances will be preferred
  • Fluent English oral and written language skills is a must in an international communication environment. German and Chinese would be a pro.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and deliver results under high pressure
  • Strong leadership skills, team spirit and strong organizational skills as well


For foreign candidates: Significant work experience in Asia (especially China) is an advantage. Ambition to live in China for a longer period.
